Family Facing Eviction – Please help

My family from Sipson is speaking out after becoming involved in County Court possession proceedings, alleging that we were promised a permanent home by Heathrow Airport Ltd before later being served with a Section 21 eviction notice.

My family had lived in a Heathrow-owned property for approximately 14 years, during which we repeatedly reported serious damp, mould and water leaks to Heathrow, Hillingdon Council, local MP, local Councillors, and many others. We allege that these conditions contributed to significant health problems, including both of their children developing asthma alongside existing diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Following years of complaints, Heathrow moved us to another property after 14 years of complaints. We received a written email from Heathrow confirming that the new property at 36 Blunts Avenue would be provided on a **”permanent basis”**, together with a subsequent letter confirming that the rent would remain frozen indefinitely.

However, after moving into the property, we were asked to sign a 12-month tenancy agreement. I, whom has Autism Spectrum Disorder, questioned the Landlord Heathrow that why the agreement appeared to contradict Heathrow’s earlier written promise. Heathrow representative assured me over the phone call that the fixed-term tenancy was **”just a formality”** and would simply be renewed each year. Relying on those assurances, I signed the agreement.

In February 2026, the we received a Section 21 eviction notice.

The eviction proceedings have had a devastating impact on my family’s mental and physical wellbeing. I have been prescribed medication for anxiety following the proceedings, while my children have experienced increased anxiety, sleep disturbance and emotional distress on top of their ASD and ADHD.

My family maintains that this case raises wider public-interest questions about:

* Whether vulnerable tenants are given clear and accurate information before signing tenancy agreements.

* The treatment of autistic tenants and those, who require additional support to understand complex legal documents.

* The handling of long-term damp and mould complaints.

* The responsibilities of large landlords when making written promises to tenants.

The matter is currently before the County Court, where the family is defending the possession claim and seeking to rely on legal arguments including alleged misrepresentation and estoppel. The court has given an extended time after October 2026.

My family hopes that by sharing our experience, greater awareness will be raised about the challenges faced by disabled tenants and families living in poor housing conditions, and the importance of ensuring that vulnerable people are treated fairly throughout the housing process.
